Nitro Snowboards and Burton Announce Extension of Step On® Partnership to Bindings
HÜNENBERG (ZG), SWITZERLAND & BURLINGTON, (VT) USA, December 18, 2024
Nitro Snowboards and Burton Snowboards are excited to announce the extension of their Step On® partnership to Nitro Step On® bindings, which will be available in fall 2025 at Nitro retail partners.
Available in both women’s and men’s sizing, Nitro’s new Step On® bindings are adding to the variety of feel and performance available in Step On® products.
Since the first launch of Nitro Step On® compatible boots for the 2022/23 season, Nitro has collaborated with Burton to build their easy-entry boot system leveraging Burton's industry-standard Step On® technology.
First unveiled to the snowboard world in late 2016, Burton Step On® is a boot-to-binding connection system that Burton founder, Jake Burton Carpenter, personally challenged the company to research and develop. Since then, Burton’s Step On® system has been widely adopted by snowboarders who want a clean and simple boot-to-binding interface that offers unprecedented convenience and performance.
“It is our goal to provide the best possible experience to snowboarders worldwide”, says Nitro’s Founder and President Tommy Delago. “Many of us have experienced the confusion in the market created 25 years ago by a multitude of non-compatible systems. We therefore decided against developing our own proprietary system and instead, have identified Step On® as the leading system and joined forces with Burton. By adding Nitro’s own fit and functionality to Step On®, we will offer greater variety with full compatibility to retailers and riders alike.”
“We’ve always valued our strong partnership with the Nitro team, as we both share a long-held commitment to progressing snowboarding and advancing snowboard technology”, said Chris Fidler, Vice President of Hardgoods at Burton. “From the beginning, Nitro has been committed to progressing Step On®, and we’re thrilled to see them further expand their Step On® offering. As the first brand to offer a complete boot and binding package with Step On® compatibility, Nitro is continuing to expand the variety of Step On® options across the industry.“
Nitro is excited for the possibility to build on Burton’s leading Step On® binding platform and combine its unrivalled ease and simplicity with Nitro’s know-how on advanced binding design. Their engineering team set out to create a seamless fit with any Step On® compatible boot while pushing the level of comfort and cushioning for the ultimate ride and feel, featuring eTPU footbeds. The Nitro signature highback design with its integrated forward-lean adjustment provides a Step On® specific flex pattern while enhancing the binding’s easy-entry / easy-exit performance.
Nitro Step On® Bindings will be available at selected retailers for 2025/26 and for demo at all main On-Snow events worldwide.
