CAD designer (m/f/d)
NITRO SNOWBOARDS is a rider owned and operated winter sports company developing and selling Snowboards, -boots and -bindings for riders worlds wide for more than 30 years. Our Product Development team, located in Oberammergau/Southern Germany, is looking for a Product Developer/CAD Designer, generating new ideas and product solutions with a focus on design, functionality, durability and manufacturability, timing, and cost, and turning them into products with the help of CAD, FEA and commonly used prototyping tools. You will work closely with a supporting team of designers and engineers, product managers and our production partners worldwide. Though CAD modelling will take the majority of your time, this role might require up to 4 weeks of traveling a year to Asia for implementation of new tools and parts in production or places worldwide for riders roundtables, feedback meetings, on-snow testing, sales meetings and product presentations.
As Nitro is a family with members in various countries of the world, a fluency in written and spoken English is required. This job holds the possibility to work from home, wherever that might be, while being able to physically join your team at the R&D office in southern Germany is a plus.
KEY DATA

- 5+ years of SOLIDWORKS CAD experience required.
- Home office possible / R&D office preferred.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- drive the development of new products and parts, mainly snowboard bindings, and create complex 3D CAD models based on the input and support from our design and engineering team.
- You will be challenged when taking 2D design input and shaping a 3D parts with the limitations of a CAD software.
- Validate initial concepts or final products by FEA, prototypes or pre-production parts, by simulation, lab or on-snow testing
- Communicate your design to our production partners and control the process of tooling and first parts approval.

YOU COME WITH
- A profound knowledge in CAD modelling using Solidworks, in particular, complex surfacing.
- you are trained in running and interpreting FEA’s
- experience in designing consumer products and the ability to develop and present design concepts to your team.
- a profound feel for aesthetics, know how in utilizing the freedom of 3D shaping and turning 2D concepts into a 3-dimensional customer experience.
- experience with prototyping technologies such as FDM/SLA/SLS and know their corresponding material options.
- a hands-on approach and the skills to mock-up protos for visuals or on-snow testing
- knowledge on advanced polymers as well as composites and the requirements towards processes like injection molding, hot-forming, die-casting and forging.
- a motivation to work in a dynamic environment among a very enthusiastic group of snowboarders

Industrial designer – consumer product / sports-equipment (m/f/d)
NITRO SNOWBOARDS is a rider owned and operated winter sports company developing and selling Snowboards, -boots and -bindings for riders worlds wide for more than 30 years. Our Product Development team, located in Oberammergau/Southern Germany, is looking for a Product Designer, developing new ideas and product shapes with a focus on design & functionality. You will work closely with a supporting team of designers, engineers, and product managers to establish design goals and set a direction for you to create design concepts for new products thru hand sketches, illustrations or renderings as well as mock-ups. In close communication with the CAD team, your vision will lead to a 3-dimensional concept and finally to a new Nitro product. To keep in close communication with members of your team, attend rider roundtables, feedback meetings, on-snow testing, sales meetings and product presentations, your role occasionally requires you to travel.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Ideate, sketch and prototype new designs across Bindings, Boots and Boards and their components, presenting concepts to your team and supporting the process from an idea to a final product.
- Leading and executing all aspects of design in a cross-functional team, including user research, UX design, visual design, and prototyping
- improving the design of existing and new products by progressing the NITRO look and feel and being a major part in further developing the visual direction of our brand and its products
- Drive visual consistency across different product groups within our offering
- work with a vibrant team of people who share the passion for Snowboarding.
YOU COME WITH
- You have a degree in product or industrial design and a passion for design and trends in action sports
- experience as a Product Designer for sporting goods or consumer products in general
- The ability to create and sketch fresh ideas, concepts and shapes as well as the hands-on experience in mocking up protos.
- creativity and vision to utilize the 3-dimensional freedom given to the fullest.
- knowledge in 3D design and rendering programs is a plus
- experience with Adobe design programs
- fluency in English
- a portfolio showcasing a wide range of design projects
